The Practice group holds helpers while you practise: Step Through, the chord prompter, a clear screen during playback, hand tags, lighting the keyboard from the piano roll, and the Starmap. None of them changes your files. Setup has Step Through and the Chord Prompter; everything is in Settings → Practice.
Step Through
On by default. Lets you go through a song one note or chord at a time with → and ←, or the amber arrow in the keyboard bar. Shift jumps a whole bar. See Step Through.
Chord Prompter
Off by default. Adds the prompter icon to the chord bar, which shows past, current and upcoming chords during playback. See Chord Prompter.
Close panels on playback
Off by default. Closes the side panels when you press play, giving the piano roll the whole width, and brings them back when you pause or open another song. For a completely clean full-screen view, use Presentation Mode.
Hand tags
Off by default. Prints a small L or R badge on hand-coloured keys, for colour-blind players who can’t rely on blue and pink alone. Works with Hand Assignment and with split Left Hand and Right Hand tracks.
Reflect on keyboard
Off by default. While the file is paused or being scrubbed (never during real playback), the keyboard continuously lights whatever notes are sounding at the playhead, taken from whichever tracks are currently visible in the piano roll. Hide a track there and the keyboard stops reflecting it.
Tip
This is a faster way to eyeball a chord while scrubbing than right-clicking a chord and choosing Show on keyboard each time — that option also follows the same visible tracks, showing the real voicing exactly as it is played.
Starmap
Makes the Starmap available in the Scales Explorer. It is off by default. Once it is on, a Starmap switch appears in the explorer’s right-hand column and flips between the Circle of Fifths, which stays the default, and the Starmap: a ring of the 12 notes where every chord you play is drawn as a glowing star.
