The Editing group holds the tools for correcting songs: hand assignment, the MIDI Note Editor and the track colour level meters. Hand Assignment and the editor are off by default to keep the screen simple until you need them. Setup has Hand Assignment; everything is in Settings → Editing.
Hand Assignment
Off by default. Colours each piano note by the hand that plays it: blue for left, pink for right. It’s an automatic guideline, not a verified transcription. For an exact split, assign notes to the left and right hand yourself with the hand tool in the MIDI Note Editor. See Left and right hands.
Max Fingers
Appears in the Hand Assignment card once it’s on. Sets how many notes of a wide chord the left and the right hand may each take, 4 (default) or 5. The left hand counts from the bottom of the chord, the right hand from the top; the rest goes to the other hand.
MIDI Note Editor
Off by default. Adds the MIDI note editor icon to the Tracks panel for editing single notes on the piano roll. See MIDI Note Editor.
Track color VU meters
On by default. Each track’s colour line in the Tracks panel pulses with its playback level, so you see which instruments are playing without opening the mixer. Turn off for plain, static colour lines.
