The Console Mixer is a full mixing desk with one channel strip per track and a master strip for the whole song. Use it to balance the band against the piano, place instruments left and right, add space, and even out loud and quiet passages.

Open the mixer
Click the Console Mixer icon in the Tracks panel‘s icon rail, or press Ctrl+Shift+M. Press Esc or the shortcut again to close it. It opens as a floating window you can drag by its header. When there are more than eight tracks, scroll the channel strips sideways with the mouse wheel or by dragging.
Channel strips
Each track has its own strip, from top to bottom:
Control | What it does |
Chorus | Thickens the tone with slightly detuned copies |
Reverb | Adds room ambience |
Pan | Places the track left or right in the stereo picture |
M, S, , | Mute, solo, show on the piano roll and light on the keyboard, the same as in the Tracks panel |
Fader | The track’s volume, with its level in dB above it |
Meter | Shows the track’s level as it plays, in the track’s colour |
Drag a strip by the grip in its name bar to change the order. Piano and keys strips stay on the left.
Master strip
Control | What it does |
Meter | The overall output level. Click Bars/FFT or Wave to switch its style. |
Mute all, Hide all, Keyboard all | Mutes, hides or un-lights every track at once |
Focus | Keyboards, bass and drums only, see Focus Mode |
Chorus and Reverb | Adds chorus or reverb to every track at once |
Tone | Tilts the whole mix darker or brighter |
Compressor | Evens out loud peaks and quiet passages. Turn it on with its switch and choose a strength: Safety, Gentle, Medium, Firm or Limiter. |
Master Volume | The overall level. Hover or drag to see the exact percentage. |
Tone and Compressor work with the Studio and Native sound engines; with GM they are dimmed. Hover over any knob for a short explanation.
Control faders and knobs with the keyboard
Click a fader or knob (or reach it with Tab), then:
Key | Action |
Arrow keys | Small step |
| Big step, five times larger |
| Minimum / maximum |
Save the mix into the file
Each track’s volume, pan, chorus and reverb can be saved. When you close the mixer after changing any of them, Orfeo asks:
Choice | Result |
Save & Reload | Writes a new |
Discard | Keeps the mix for this session only |
Cancel | Goes back to the mixer |
The master strip (Master Volume, Tone, Compressor, master Chorus and Reverb) and mute and solo always stay session-only.
Tip
Practising against a band? Pull the piano fader down to where you can barely hear it, pan it slightly to one side, and play your part over it.
