Chord Transcription to PDF

Chord Transcription turns any song in your library into a printable chord chart, with a keyboard diagram for every chord and a bar-by-bar grid. It’s a beta feature: it works from start to finish, but the layout and chord detection are still being refined.

Create a chord chart

  • Turn on Chord Transcription in Settings → MIDI Files & Library. Every file in the Library gets a transcript icon in front of its name.
  • Click the transcript icon of a song. It spins while the chart is made.
  • When it turns green, hover it to see the file name: Saved — <song>_CHORD_TRANSCRIPT.pdf.
  • Find the PDF in the Orfeo folder next to the song, and open or print it like any other PDF.

If something goes wrong, the icon turns red and its tooltip explains why for a few seconds.

What’s in the chart

Section

Contents

Header

The song name, tempo, key and number of bars

Chord legend

Every chord in the song once, each with a small keyboard diagram and its notes

Bar grid

The song bar by bar, with each chord placed on the beat where it starts

The chart uses the chords as Orfeo reads them, so the chord tracking mode affects the result. The chart is a separate file; the song itself is not changed.

 Tip

Print the chart for lessons or jam sessions: the keyboard diagrams make it readable for beginners who don’t know every chord symbol yet.
