The Playback group holds the tools for playing songs: tempo fixes, count-in, scrubbing, looping and focus. Most are off by default to keep the screen simple until you need them. Setup has Focus mode and Tap Tempo; everything is in Settings → Playback.
Tap Tempo
Off by default. Adds a red TAP pad next to the tempo, for fixing songs whose bar lines and metronome don’t match the music. See Tap Tempo.
Tap Tempo counting
Appears in the Tap Tempo card once it’s on. Every beat (default): tap 1, 2, 3, 4, like tapping your foot; your first tap is the 1. Only the 1: tap only the first beat of each bar; every tap is a 1.
Tempo warnings
Off by default. Marks songs whose bar lines and metronome don’t match the music’s steady beat, the ones Tap Tempo can fix: a pulsing amber light under the TAP pad in the top bar, and an amber dot in the Library. See Tempo warnings.
Dismissed tempo warnings
Appears in the Tempo warnings card once you have dismissed a warning. Show warnings for … dismissed songs again brings them all back.
Show precise scrub time
Off by default. Shows the playhead position down to the millisecond at all times, useful for matching an exact spot in a song.
Count-in
Off by default. Clicks 1 to 4 bars at the song’s tempo before Play, skipping empty bars at the start, so you come in on time. Also in the metronome’s right-click menu. See Count-in.
Count-in bars
Appears in the Count-in card once it’s on. How many bars it counts: 1, 2, 3 or 4.
Loop region
Off by default. Shows the loop strip under the scrub bar, for selecting a range of bars to loop. See Loop a passage.
Focus mode
On by default. Shows the Focus button in the Tracks panel and the Console Mixer, which switches between all tracks and keyboards, bass and drums only. See Focus Mode.
