The Piano Roll group sets the falling-notes view: zoom, bar lines, the playbar and visual effects. Everything here is about the display only; nothing is written to your files. Setup has Zoom, Bar numbers & grid lines and Show Playbar; everything is in Settings → Piano Roll.
Zoom
Six steps from 50% to 300%, stepped with the − and + buttons or by clicking a dot on the track. The current percentage shows next to the name, and the line underneath tells you how many seconds of music are visible: 12 seconds at 50%, 6 seconds at 100% (the default), 2 seconds at 300%. Higher zoom means larger notes and less of the piece on screen at once.
Tip
Zoom in for a dense run where the notes overlap, zoom out when you want to see a whole phrase coming.
Bar numbers & grid lines
On by default. Draws bar numbers and horizontal guide lines across the roll, so you can find the spot when a teacher says “start from bar 32”.
Show Playbar
On by default. The playbar is the line the falling notes strike. Turn it off and the notes fall all the way to the keyboard’s real on-screen position instead of stopping at a fixed line.
Visual Effects
On by default. An animated flourish plays where each note strikes during playback. Its controls appear in the Visual Effects card in Settings → Piano Roll once it’s on. The effects themselves are described in Visual Effects.
Control | What it does |
Scope | Piano only (default) plays effects for keyboard tracks, All tracks for every track in the file. |
Color | A swatch that overrides the effect colour for every track. The reset button puts each track back on its own colour. |
Pattern | Glow Bloom (default), Ripple Ring, Particle Burst, Smoke Plume, Color Aura, Starburst Nova, Comet Trail. |
Intensity | How bright the bloom is. Default 1.5. |
Spread | How far the bloom reaches. Default 4. |
Threshold | How bright a pixel must be before it blooms. Lower makes more of the effect glow; higher blooms only the brightest parts. Default 0.4. |
